Brief Biography
I am originally from Swansea, MA. My dad was the principal of a K-8 grade school, and my mom was the secretary. When I was about six years old, my parents joined Wycliffe Bible Translators, and when I was seven we started moving.
Our first stop was Duncanville, TX, and we were there for my second grade year. Next we moved to Quebec, Canada, where we were for my third grade year for French language training. We were in both of those places to provide training for my parents before we headed out to the mission field. From there, we moved back to Swansea, MA, until January 6, 1991.
January 6, 1991 was a big day. That was the day we got on a plane bound for Cameroon, W. Africa. I was nine years old, and ready for whatever was ahead of me. After a long trip we arrived in Cameroon on January 8.
Except for a couple summer trips back to the US, as well my 11th grade year, I was in Cameroon until I graduated from high school in June of 1999. Suddenly I was at another turning point in my life, only this time I had a decision in the matter as to where I would end up.
Well, I ended up taking a year off from school and working full time. My sister Abigail and I rented an apartment together in Fall River, MA. I knew full well that whole year that I would be going back to school in the fall of 2000, but it was a refreshing break from schoolwork none-the-less.
True to my word, I arrived at Taylor University (Upland, IN) in the fall of 2000 and started down the road toward a degree in Computer Science. It was a great experience, and I made some good friends in my time at Taylor. After 4 long years, I graduated in May of 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science / Systems.
I am now living in Massachusetts, once again in the house that I lived in 'til I was seven. I live in the basement and my sister and her husband live upstairs. I work at Anteon as a Software Developer, programming on a contract for the DoD. So far it has been a good experience, and it feels good to be paying back my college loans rather than adding onto them...
What Is Important To Me
My whole life I have been taught to believe that Jesus Christ came to earth as a man, died on the cross for my sins, and rose from the grave on the third day. I became a Christian when I was five years old, but it has not always been an easy path to walk.
Like many teenagers growing up, I had my rebellious years. I did what I wanted to do without a second thought towards how I was acting in contradiction to what I said I believed. Even now, I struggle - but that's what being a Christian is about in the end. There is no way that man, by himself, can overcome sin. That's why Jesus did come. He died so that I do not have to. And he loves me even though I am not perfect.
