So here’s the deal. My mouth is hurting less and less each day, but it really doesn’t seem like the gums are healing over the sockets, at least not on the right lower side. The doctor said that the gums normally heal over in 8-10 days, but tomorrow is day 7 and I can still see the bone. Each day it seems like I can see farther down in the hole, and it’s got me freaked out.
I know that in 6 months this will all be better and I won’t even be thinking about it, but right now I can’t stop. I’m paranoid that it’s not healing the way it should be, so I’m going to call the doctor up tomorrow and see if I can get a checkup. It’s always good to hear someone who knows what they’re talking about say, “Everything is fine. Just give it time.” Hopefully that’s what he’ll say to me.
And if not, hopefully he’ll do something about it so that it DOES heal properly.
Argh.
Moving on from that, tomorrow is Friday, and Friday is a good day. The day will pass quickly too, because I have to go down to NUWC for a meeting for most of the morning. Then it’s the afternoon, and then it’s the weekend!
And wow, September is over. Absolutely incredible how quickly time is passing.
True to everything I’ve heard from everyone else about getting your wisdom teeth taken out, it gets better every day. Last night I skipped my normal advil dose and it was really aching (I ended up taking some before going to bed), but then in the morning it was feeling fine again. Right now it’s ok, and I know that in another 5 days or so it should be pretty much healed. When I went to the doctor for my checkup the other day he gave me this neat little syringe thing I had heard so much about to ensure no food get stuck in the opening as it heals. Overall though, it seems to be getting better.
Yesterday I went to Stop & Shop and bought some Easy Mac for lunches at work. It’s a food that I don’t have to chew much and as the name suggests it’s easy to make. So not the healthiest of all diets right now, but oh well. I’ve also decided to start bringing in my lunch rather than going to get a salad from Stop & Shop. It just gets expensive spending $3 - $5 each day on lunch, and I’d rather put more money toward my loans.
I went to Starbucks with a couple friends last night and hung out for close to two hours. I hadn’t been there in a while, and it was good because I knew three of the girls who were working at the time. It’s always nice to see people and say hi again.
I should try to stop in there more often. The problem is that it’s really out of the way for me. I work in the _other_ direction, so after a 30-35 minute drive home from work I don’t really feel like driving another 15 to go to Starbucks. But still, it was fun.
I made another mp3 CD the other day - I’m acutally listening to it right now. It has albums on it by:
Caedmon’s Call
Chris Rice
Shane & Shane
Shane Barnard
Steven Curtis Chapman
Third Day
It’s a good CD.
Here is a list of food I’ve had over the past few days. You can tell where I gave in and struggled through something given the state of my mouth:
chocolate pudding
vanilla pudding
mac & cheese
a piece of pizza
cottage cheese
wheat thins
domino’s cheese bread
a donut
clam chowder
minestrone soup
an awful awful
I can’t think of anything else right now. It was a pretty boring weekend in terms of food.
I was talking to a friend online today and it hit me that it would be really boring to not work for a living. I mean, sure, you don’t always want to get up and go to work in the morning - but what would life be like without work. I think it would be boring.
People would get extremely lazy, obesity would be an even larger problem (pun intended), and it would be a lot harder to meet people. Apart from not MAKING money by working, money would become more of a problem because people would spend money to do things to take up time.
So yeah, in the end, work is a good thing.
Well, my mouth is definitely still sore, but I’m back to work in the morning. The hole where my lower right wisdom tooth was seems rather open to me - I’m not sure how well the stitching held up - but I have a check-up appointment tomorrow afternoon so hopefully if there’s anything wrong they’ll fix it up.
At this point I just want my mouth to get all better and to be able to eat regular food again. This pudding thing isn’t all it’s kicked up to be…
Other than that things are going well. Work is work, but it’s work - so that’s good. A friend came over today and we watched the Redsox win their last game of the season against the Yankees. Just one week left and then it’s playoff time. I don’t think the Sox will overtake the Yankees for the division, but I’m pretty sure that they have the wildcard position clinched.
Life is weird after school.
For those of you who like things like this (I do, so I thought you might), here are some pictures that I took right when I got home after getting my wisdom teeth taken out. So at this point it had been about 30 minutes to an hour after the procedure. Notice I still hadn’t even taken the gauze out yet - I did that right after taking the pictures.
Ain’t life great? Enjoy!
Well, it’s now 2:40 in the afternoon, and I’m all done. I have no more wisdom teeth. I’m not really in any pain yet either, but I’m sure that will come in time. From what I heard everything went well.
My only annoyance about it all right now is that my tongue feels like it’s about twice the size of what it should be. Makes it hard to pronounce words and talk - even though apart from that I feel pretty much fine!
Anyone wanna go play baseball???
Well, it’s 10:45 right now. In about an hour and 15 minutes I’m having my wisdom teeth removed. I’m more excited than nervous at this point, but I’m not looking forward to the recovery period. Oh well, such is life.
I guess along with my teeth goes the chance of me ever being wise, huh?
It’s my last day of work this week! Woohoo! Too bad I’ll be laid up this weekend. If anyone feels like visiting me this weekend, that would be cool. And I guess if we have another football party somewhere on Sunday I’ll have to eat yogurt while everyone else is eating popcorn. Doh!
Edit: The Patriots don’t have a game this weekend… Even more DOH!
In other news, my college loans will be consolidated as of tomorrow. It will be nice to have only one loan to think about rather than keeping track of each one I took out during school.
In other news yet, I bought a CD-Key for Counter-Strike: Condition Zero yesterday on Ebay. I read all about it to make sure it was legal and such, and that the key would be valid, and then I went for it. In the end I got a key (that IS valid and is now registered in my name) for $14.49 - rather than paying the $40 for the game itself. Pretty cool beans.
