Ok, so I know, I’m not much of a writer, and it’s been a while, but here’s a bit of the news.
First of all, I found out I have mono. I think I’ve actually had it since the end of July / beginning of August, but I didn’t find out until a week ago. I went to the doctor for what I thought was strep throat, but that test came back negative. Fortunately, it’s been a pretty mild case. I mean, I’ve been a bit more tired - but only to the extent of going to bed a bit earlier, I’ve had a lot of headaches, but 8 advil a day took care of those. The advil also knocked out the sore throat, which is thankfully gone now and I’ve been off the advil for three days now. I dropped sports for the time being, but that’s just because I’d rather not have my spleen explode. I have another appointment in a week and hopefully I’ll get the greenlight for sports again.
Second, Abby and I started a puzzle the other day. It’s one of the monster 3000 piece puzzles that are a bit overwhelming until you get a decent bit done. I love working on puzzles. Put on some music, sit back, and somehow the hours go by. It’s in the basement, so we have to go a bit out of the way to work on it, but we don’t really have any other place for it. We’re also cleaning up the basement a bit so soon it will be a much more livable place.
I went surfing the other day (before I found out I had mono) and had a blast. I’ve never been in my life, yet I managed to stand up three or four times. So… I guess I’ll have to get a wetsuit so Dan and I can go this winter. The waves are always better in the winter.
I own a pool cue. Dan and Abby gave me birthday money specifically for a pool cue, and my parents gave me some cashola too, so I put it all together and got a pretty nice cue. Abby bought one as well, and we’ll be getting Dan one sometime in the not too distant future. Now all we need is a pool table we can fit in the house….
Dan got a new car. It’s a Mazda ProtegĂ© 5, stick shift, black leather interior, not _too_ low miles, but not too high either. The Accord was really starting to struggle. Speaking of cars, I went out to start my parents’ Accord the other day and it has absolutely NO juice. Hopefully a jump will solve it without having to buy a new battery. I mean, it had only been three weeks since I started it last, so I’m not sure what went wrong.
The trees in our front yard are supposed to be coming down, but they’re still standing. Hopefully soon (aka before my parents get back) they will be gone.
And that’s about it in the news department. All the kids are going back to school soon, and I’m glad I’m not one of them.
Your Love, Oh Lord (Third Day)
Your love, oh Lord
Reaches to the heavens
Your faithfulness stretches to the sky
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains
Your justice flows like the ocean’s tide
I will lift my voice
To worship You, my King
I will find my strength
In the shadow of your wings
Birds sing…
There’s not a cloud in the sky.
August 8th is a beautiful day….
(just for you, Abby)
There’s really nothing to write about. I’ve been sitting here for about 5 minutes trying to figure out what to say. I read these other blogs, and people have things to talk about. I never seem to. I guess that’s what happens when life becomes monotonous. Sleep, work, home.
Work is going fine. Keeping busy, getting stuff done, but the motivation is low. I still don’t know if this is where I want to settle, and somehow I doubt I’ll ever know the answer to that. Florida (or somewhere south of here) still sounds appealing to me, but what would be different? Not sure anything would.
So I guess I’ll keep doing my thing. Because I don’t think there is an answer. I think this is just _life_, and everyone is the same. Maybe I live too much in the past. Maybe I hope too much for the future. Whatever happened to today?
Oh yeah, and we lost 13-9 in our softball game tonight. I struck out looking for our final out. How does that even happen in slow pitch softball??? I think it means I owe some beer to the team next time around… doh!
ps. happy belated b-day jake. i should probably pay more attention to my blog…
