That’s where I feel like the Red Sox are going.
Remember back then? The Sox would do great up until the all-star break, then they would fall apart. It would *look* like they might actually take the division, but then they wouldn’t. Something would just change halfway through July, and poof, the Sox forgot how to play baseball.
Ah, the days of misery. But then there was 2004. They actually did it. The Red Sox won the World Series. I wasn’t sure it would happen during my lifetime. The curse of the Bambino was broken. And I thought from then on out that the Sox might do better, be stronger, win more.
My was I ever mistaken. It appears the Sox have fallen back into their dismal hole. They have been solid this year. Absolutely solid. Right up until the all-star break, they were anyway. Now they’ve started losing, just like old times. They’re on a 5 game losing streak. They can’t get the offense going. The defense is just not quite there. The pitching? Hmm.
And they just got swept by Kansas City. I think that about sums it up.
