Jude 1:24-25

The beads are here,

The battle has begun.

See, Brian and I bought some door beads for the entrance to our office. We don’t have a door, and we wanted to add a bit of character - personal touch, if you will - to the room. We even borrowed the tape measure to figure out the correct dimensions from our boss.

Well, they arrived yesterday and it just happened that I shared the elevator ride back upstairs with the facilities guy for the building, Steve, and he told me right off - No Beads!!! Crap. So we bought them a month ago, they just get here now, and it’s nixed before I even get the box open?? Needless to say, the rest of the elevator ride was somewhat uncomfortable.

Eight hours is up, I head out the door. The beads are still unopened in the office, my hopes still smashed. Evening, morning, back at the office. And what do I see? Yup! The beads are hanging in the doorway, happy as beads can be. They couldn’t stand the confining shipping package they arrived in.

Brian took initiative, his four years here giving him more courage for civil disobedience than my four months lended me. Steve already stopped by and said he was going to have a talk with “the boy” - yeah, that would be Brian. But we’re going to fight for it. Right now Steve said the problem is fire code, but there are plenty of examples in the building where fire code is not being met. If he’s gonna come down on us about it, he needs to be strict throughout the whole building.

So, let the battle be fought with courage!

Update: The battle has been lost. Beads are a comin’ down. Bummer.
